Source layers
What the encyclopedia rests on, and how much each source carries. Every figure here is counted from the register on request, with what it is a share of.
Here “verified” means the register checked the value against its cited source; it is not an independent scientific review. Of the 1114 facts counted, 313 were approved in the register on the founder’s own review of them, which is not an independent review, and the other 801 carry the verification they were imported with.
A source may be cited for more than one claim: 74 sources support published facts, 5 support names and 18 establish image rights. These are different claims and are not summed.
The five layers of the register
Every citation in the register carries its layer. The cards measure what the published content rests on in each layer; draft content is counted apart and enters no published figure. A layer nothing rests on says so and is not hidden.
Published facts rest on it
Published facts resting on it: 75 of 1,567. Its sources: 2.
No published fact rests on it yet
No published fact rests on this layer. Sources in it that support draft content only (counted apart): 1.
Published facts rest on it
Published facts resting on it: 813 of 1,567. Its sources: 5.
Published facts rest on it
Published facts resting on it: 130 of 1,567. Its sources: 27.
Published facts rest on it
Published facts resting on it: 96 of 1,567. Its sources: 41.
What the published facts rest on
A fact may rest on more than one source, so the figures by kind and by source are shares of the same number (1,567 published facts) and are not added together. Active citation rows on published facts: 1,506 (1,137 verified and 369 still in review, counted apart).
Published facts with no active citation, by field
- Documentation status
- 439 of 453
- Specimen total length
- 14 of 453
A field with no active citation row is not necessarily a value with no origin; but the register credits no source that was not recorded. The fields are named here so each can be reviewed.
By kind of source
| Kind of source | Sources | Published facts (of 1,567) | Citation rows | Of them verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Journal article | 13 | 99 of 1,567 | 100 | 100 |
| Website | 39 | 69 of 1,567 | 72 | 72 |
| External database or API | 13 | 16 of 1,567 | 32 | 32 |
| Scientific paper | 1 | 3 of 1,567 | 3 | 3 |
| Government document | 2 | 2 of 1,567 | 2 | 2 |
| Report | 1 | 2 of 1,567 | 2 | 2 |
The references they rest on
A book is cited by its reference number, title, edition and year. If the register holds two editions of one book they are two different works with two reference numbers, and one is never merged into the other.
Sources held that support no published fact
These sources are recorded in the register and no published fact rests on them. That does not mean they went unused: the figures below say in which other layer of the register each is cited, out of 57 held sources that support no published fact. They are not added together: one source may serve more than one layer.
