HOW TO CITE

How to cite

The encyclopedia shows information that comes from registered references. Cite the reference first, then the encyclopedia as the digital intermediary: the two citations are not interchangeable.

Citing a reference (the books)

Reference 6 — أسماك من المياه الإقليمية للمملكة في البحر الأحمر, 1st edition, 2011

Reference 49 — Fishes from Territorial Saudi Red Sea Waters, 2nd edition, 2017

The reference number is its number in the source register, and it corresponds to the work named under “Scientific sources” at the foot of a species page. Who compiled each reference, and the body that issued it, are on the references page. References

Citing a species record

Fishes of Saudi Arabia. “Scientific name”. Stable identifier HWT-[GROUP]-####. Data source: Reference [number], as named under “Scientific sources” on the record’s page. URL: https://ksafish.com/en/species/[slug] — retrieved [date].

[GROUP] is the group code in the record’s own identifier (for example FISH). Where the value you are repeating carries a source, cite the source; the encyclopedia is cited for the compilation and the stable identifier, not as the authority for the value. If you quote this release, say that it is a pre-review release whose scientific review is not complete.

Citing the platform

Fishes of Saudi Arabia — KSAFISH. HUWAT. [year]. https://ksafish.com/en. Founded on the idea and vision of Mohammed Al-Yaqoubi.

This attributes the platform. It is not a scientific source for any fact.

Fields from external sources

Some fields do not come from the reference books but from external sources, and each field names its source beside its value on the species page. A value is not published unless it carries a verified citation on its page; what has not been reviewed is shown as a draft under its label and must not be quoted as an approved value. Among those sources:

Published conservation assessments: 0 assessments.
