An empty cell describes the register, not the animal: it does not mean the value is zero, or that science does not know it. A row carrying a state phrase ("unknown", "not recorded in the source") holds an explicit record saying so. A local name recorded for a sea is not an occurrence record, and a value two records share does not make them one record.

Differs: Both sides hold a value, and the two values are not the same.
Only the first / only the second has a record: The other side holds no row in the register for this field, and its cell says why.
Neither has a record: Neither side holds a row for this field.
Each has its own: A field whose two values are not compared: two identifiers, two plates; each record has its own.
